Princess Cruises has announced that its 2019-20 California coastal and Mexico voyages are now on sale. Over 60 cruises are available, with ports of call including San Francisco, San Diego, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas.
As part of the sailings, guests will have the chance to experience the 3,560-guest Royal Princess as she sails her maiden season out of Los Angeles.
A total of 27 departures on Royal Princess out of Los Angeles, including nine along the California coast. The California sailings – which recently featured in an episode of Channel 5’s BAFTA-award winning programme ‘Cruising with Jane McDonald’ – offer guests the opportunity to experience ‘more ashore’ with late night departures in both San Francisco and San Diego. In addition, Royal Princess will offer seven-day Mexican Riviera sailings and a five-day Cabo San Lucas getaway, featuring an overnight call on every departure.
The 2,600-guest Star Princess will return to the west coast in 2019 with departures from Seattle and Vancouver, such as a seven-day northern California coast sailing from Seattle plus late-night calls in San Francisco and Victoria. Star Princess will also feature a 10-day coastal sailing from Vancouver with a late night call in Los Angeles and an overnight stop in San Francisco, and a 10-day Baja peninsula and sea of Cortez voyage with an overnight visit to Cabo San Lucas.
San Francisco will see the return of the 2,600-guest Grand Princess, which will sail seven-day classic California coast and seven-day Pacific north west coast cruises, as well as 10-day Mexican Riviera sailings and a brand new five-day west coast getaway itinerary with late night departures in San Diego.
Other ships based in the region will be the 3,080-guest Ruby Princess and 2,200-guest Island Princess, which will offer six and seven-day Pacific wine country sailings alongside both Royal Princess and Star Princess.
The California coastal cruises will take in guest celebrity speakers from across the world of film, music and entertainment. The programme is part of the ‘Encounters with Discovery’ speaker series, which was introduced to complement Princess Cruises’ longstanding partnership with the Discovery Channel.
For guests sailing to Mexico an onboard line-up of local activities and cuisine are available including live mariachi performances, an authentic Mexican buffet, food and beverage demonstrations, tequila tastings and local crafts. On select sailings, guests can explore the ancient Aztec tradition of the ‘Day of the Dead’ Mexican fiesta with face painting, flower making and sugar skull mask making.
Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president, said: “Bringing Royal Princess to the west coast for her first season is just one of the ways we are committed to providing our guests even more opportunity to sail the California coast. She joins a fantastic range of ships sailing the region.
“Meanwhile sailing the waters of Mexico honours the heritage of Princess cruising, with our first voyage, in 1965, to the Mexican Riviera. Now we provide guests with more opportunities to experience the best of the region through culinary partnerships and immersive shore excursions, all while enjoying longer stays in port.
Princess Cruises is offering a seven-day classic California coast sailing from £1734 per person* on Royal Princess. Departing Los Angeles on Saturday November 9, 2019 the ports of call are San Francisco, Monterey, San Diego and Ensenada.
