Emerald Star (built 2014) is the first of all five identically designed Emerald Waterways ships of the Star-class. The riverboat was followed by the fleetmate sisters Emerald Sky, Emerald Dawn, Emerald Sun, and the newest is Emerald Destiny (2017). The fleet expansion in 2017 also includes the launches of Emerald Liberte (France) and Emerald Radiance (Portugal). Emerald Waterways is a new river cruise line in Europe (established 2014, owned by the Scenic Tours company). Like the new Viking River Cruises longships, Emerald Waterways ships’ innovations make them a real alternative to the ocean ship cruise vacations. Emerald Waterways Star boat just adds more choices of sailing dates and itineraries for the aficionados of the European luxury river cruise ship travel – the all-inclusive style.
Emerald Star cruise ship deck plan has a total of 92 staterooms for 182 passengers served by 47 crew/staff. Like most of the newest luxury river cruise ships, Emerald Star features 4 passenger decks, indoor swimming pool / night cinema (covered with sliding roof), Gym, Spa massages room, passenger-use bikes, 1 elevator (connecting all 3 cabin decks).
Emerald Waterways Star is an all-inclusive riverboat. The list of included in the fares amenities includes:
- gratuities (both on board and on shore excursions/tours)
- port taxes
- all transfers to and from the boat
- all shore excursions
- beverages (including tea, coffee, soft drinks, bottle water) and alcohol (beer and wine by the glass at lunch and dinner)
- Wi-Fi Internet access.
- There is no special dress-code on the Star ship. Still, smart casual dress code for dinner is recommended (allowing jeans, but not shorts/flip-flops). There are no formal nights on Emerald Waterways cruises.
